ANCIENT LIGHT
Ancient Light
Glass House Mountains Lookout | Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland
Beneath a universe billions of years in the making.
Deep in the stillness of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, far from the distractions of everyday life, the night sky reveals a breathtaking spectacle that has existed long before humanity first walked the Earth.
Captured at the Glass House Mountains Lookout, Ancient Light showcases the extraordinary beauty of the Milky Way as it stretches across the darkness, its countless stars and intricate clouds of cosmic dust illuminating the heavens above.
Standing beneath this magnificent display, surrounded by the quiet of the hinterland, I was reminded of just how vast and mysterious our universe truly is. Above the dark silhouette of the lookout structure, the brilliant galactic centre rises into view, revealing a celestial landscape shaped over billions of years.
What captivated me most about this moment was the contrast between the darkness of the Earth below and the extraordinary detail unfolding across the sky. Thousands of visible stars, delicate patterns of interstellar dust and distant pockets of light combined to create a scene that felt almost beyond imagination.
The name Ancient Light reflects the remarkable journey of the light captured in this photograph. Travelling across immense distances through space, some of this starlight began its journey thousands of years before reaching Earth, allowing us to witness a glimpse into the distant past.
There is something profoundly humbling about standing beneath the Milky Way, knowing that the light reaching our eyes has travelled through the universe for countless generations.
Ancient Light is a celebration of the timeless beauty of the cosmos, the mystery of the night sky and the extraordinary connection between our world and the universe beyond.
A reminder that even in complete darkness, the universe is filled with light.
